Aris Clinic Provides Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Medication Management Services

Every kid and teen struggling with a mental health issue is unique. Not all require prescription psychiatric medication, nor does Aris Clinic promote that. But there are instances where “meds” are an important part of an overall treatment plan that often includes talk therapy.

Aris Clinic has the psychiatrists and nurse practitioners to help with all aspects of outpatient medication management for your child, including:

  • Collaborating with Therapists
  • Medication Assessment
  • Medication Options
  • Prescriptions (New and Refills)
  • Medication Trials
  • Monitoring Possible Side Effects
  • Ongoing Medication Management

Mental Health Medication Management

Mental Health Medication Management focuses on the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mental, emotional and behavioral disorders.

A mental health prescriber is a licensed provider with full prescriptive authority from the DEA (MD, DO, PA, DNP, or CNP) who specializes in mental health, and/or substance use disorders. Our medication management providers are qualified to assess both the mental and physical aspects of psychological problems.

As licensed medical professionals, Aric Clinic mental health medication providers can order or perform a full range of medical laboratory and psychological tests which, combined with discussions with patients, help provide a picture of a patient’s physical and mental state. Their education and clinical training equip them to understand the complex relationship between emotional and other medical illnesses and the relationships with genetics and family history, to evaluate medical and psychological data, to make a diagnosis, and to work with patients to develop treatment plans.

Treatments

Aric Clinic providers use a variety of treatments – including various forms of psychotherapy, medications, psychosocial interventions and other treatments, depending on the needs of each patient.

Treating Mental Disorders

Most medications for a mental health diagnosis are used in much the same way that medications are used to treat high blood pressure or diabetes. After completing thorough evaluations, medications can be prescribed to help treat mental disorders. Medications can help correct imbalances in brain chemistry that are thought to be involved in some mental disorders. Patients on long-term medication treatment will need to meet with their provider periodically to monitor the effectiveness of the medication and any potential side effects.
