Laurie Geddes is a board certified psychiatric nurse practitioner, who works part time in private practice at Aris Clinic.
As a Certified Nurse Practitioner, she has full prescribing privileges and works independently providing diagnostic assessments, education, referrals, and medication management. Laurie currently sees adults, teens, and children, ages 10 and older.
Laurie graduated from the College of Saint Catherine in St. Paul with her bachelor of science in nursing. She worked at Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota in the NICU and began to recognize that issues related to mental health span across all demographics. She returned to school at the university of Minnesota to earn her Master’s Degree in Clinical Counseling and began working at Alltyr Clinic, an outpatient clinic that focuses on psychiatric care and co-occurring substance use disorders. She then went on to obtain her Master’s in Nursing at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND with a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner focus. She completed her pediatric clinical rotation at Aris Clinic under Dr. Kennedy and has been working at Hennepin County Medical Center in inpatient psychiatry.
Laurie has a special interest in children and adolescents who struggle with depression, anxiety, mood instability, and emotional dysregulation. She takes a person-centered approach that may incorporate therapeutic interventions and medication management, along with a healthy diet and exercise. She also enjoys working with adults who struggle with mood disorders, anxiety, and substance use disorders. She recommends a variety of interventions, such as family therapy, individual therapy, skills work, support groups, education, intensive outpatient treatment, and/or medication management.
When Laurie is not working she enjoys spending time with her husband, three children, and their bulldog, Bella. She likes to read, run, downhill ski, and spend time at her lake cabin.
