Shalene Kennedy, MD is a board certified psychiatrist that specializes in children and adolescents with a special interest in medically complex cases. She founded Aris Clinic in 2000 and continues to lead the development of the clinical programming at Aris Clinic. Her practice is primarily with those enrolled in the Aris Clinic – Woodwinds Intensive Outpatient Program for adolescents. In addition, Dr. Kennedy consults with the other Aris Clinic providers as needed. Dr. Kennedy attended medical school at Creighton University, completed her residency training at the Mayo Clinic, and completed a fellowship with the University of Minnesota.

Dr. Kennedy selected Child and Adolescent Psychiatry as her specialty because of the shortage of Psychiatrists providing care to children with mental health diagnoses. She derives great personal and professional satisfaction from working with children who need psychiatric services the most. Dr. Kennedy places great importance on a team approach to providing care to ensure that her patient’s biological, psychological and social issues are all addressed in an interconnected way. She incorporates the benefits of nutrition, sleep and exercise into treatment planning for her patients, and believes in the healing power of animals.
